Member Grievances

Not Happy with Something? You Can Tell Us.

If you are a pregnant member or the caregiver of a child in the ECSS program, you can tell us if something did not go well. This is called a grievance

What is a grievance?

A grievance is when you tell Magellan that something made you unhappy. For example:

  • You could not get an appointment
  • You had trouble getting the services your child needs
  • A provider was rude or did not listen
  • You were treated unfairly
  • You felt unsafe
  • You do not agree with how Magellan handled a concern

You will not be punished for filing a grievance. It’s your right to speak up.

Who can file a grievance?

Member Grievance Request Form – ECSS Program

Magellan Healthcare, Inc. (Magellan) is committed to ensuring that participants in the Early Childhood Supports and Services (ECSS) program have the right to voice concerns without fear of penalty. If you are a pregnant member or the caregiver of a child aged through 5 enrolled in ECSS, you may submit a grievance directly or through an authorized representative.

A grievance is any expression of dissatisfaction about services, care coordination, access, provider behavior, or other concerns. This includes issues that you would like Magellan or the ECSS site to investigate or resolve. You may submit a grievance at any time.

How to file a grievance:

  • You may also submit a grievance verbally by calling the Magellan ECSS Member Line at 1-800-327-0205 (TTY 711)
  • Supporting documents may be shared.
  • Magellan will review each grievance and provide a written acknowledgment.
  • If your grievance is urgent and involves risk to health or safety, it will be reviewed by the Clinical Reviewer and Medical Director.
  • All grievances will receive a written resolution letter within 30 calendar days, unless expedited action is required.

If someone else is submitting the grievance on your behalf (such as a non-parent relative, foster parent, or community advocate), documentation authorizing them to act on your behalf may be requested.

Note: This form is for grievances only. To report an emergency or immediate safety concern, call 911.

If the concern cannot be resolved at the ECSS site level, or if it involves systemic or serious issues, it will be referred to Magellan for further investigation and resolution.
