Eligibility & Services

The Early Childhood Supports and Services (ECSS) program is designed to support young children and their families during important early years of development.

Children and families may be eligible if they meet the following:

  • Children  birth through age 5.
  • Pregnant individuals  are also eligible for support.
  • Families must live in  Louisiana.
  • Services are available through ECSS providers across the state.
  • Caregivers must have the legal right to consent for the child.
Anyone can make a referral including parents/self‑referrals.

How ECSS can help

ECSS supports families who may be experiencing:

  • Social, Emotional, or Behavioral Needs
    • Difficulty with emotions or behavior
    • Challenges with attention, sleep, or routines
    • Trouble in daycare or school settings
  • Family Stress or Life Challenges
    • Changes in the home (separation, loss, or transitions)
    • Exposure to stressful or traumatic experiences
    • Caregiver stress, anxiety, or depression
  • Parent-Child Relationship Support
    • Strengthening bonding and attachment
    • Improving communication and behavior at home
    • Support with parenting strategies
  • Support with Everyday Needs
    • Housing support
    • Food assistance
    • Childcare services
    • Employment resources
    • Transportation

Services Available Through ECSS

Depending on your family’s needs, ECSS may provide:

  • Family support and care coordination
  • Resource navigation and community connections
  • Early childhood mental health services
  • Therapies such as:
    • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
    • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
